Moroccan Breadmaker

SOLD

11"x14"  Oil on stretched canvas.

I have never been to Morocco, but my husband's daughter, Melanie, has.  She sent several beautiful photos to me.  Her perceptive eye caught the beauty of this quiet scene.  Ah, the color and light...begging to be painted!  I chose to leave the figure in the doorway as a design element. I could very well have painted him as the shadow of a pillar or a wall, but his Tommy Bahama T-shirt and jeans is quite a contrast to the woman, who is quietly tending her wares, covered from head to toe despite the blazing heat of the day.  Great shot, Melanie!
