About Me

Pamela Nichols: Pensacola, FL, United States; I am an Oil Painter. I love being able to say that after a lifetime of wearing the hats of Choral Music Director, Singer, Special Education Teacher, Wife of an Excellent Husband, and Mother of an Extraordinary Daughter. With the exception of jr. high art classes and a few private oil painting lessons many years ago, I am self-taught. I read art books and study videos of accomplished painters whom I admire. (Helen van Wyk, Daniel Gerhartz, Scott Burdick, Daniel Keys, Chris Saper...to name a few. I see beauty as the light falls on an object, the grass,...a face. To even begin to to capture that beauty in paint is such a gratifying experience. Of late, I have focused on painting portraits, and I have committed to several commissioned works. I admire and study the paintings of John Singer Sargent, Giovanni Boldini, Anders Zorn, Phillip de Laszlo and others...in art books, online, and in art museums on my limited travels around the country.
