Semper Fi No.3

16x16" Oil on Stretched Linen

I Googled "Marine Quotes" to find a title for this one.  Let's face it. . . there is none better than "Semper Fi", which translates "Always Faithful".  These three paintings are to honor the life and memory of such a marine.

I did find a website with many memorable quotes.    http://www.usmc81.com/2009/01/marine-corps-quotes/  One of my favorites:  "To observe a marine is inspirational.  To be a marine is exceptional."

Plums and Petunias

7"x9" Oil on stretched canvas.  $125

There are several things about this set-up that I love.  My sister made this little blue bowl, and I have used it in a previous painting.  The plums and cherries were fun to paint, and I love their rich reds.    Hopefully the sporadic tropical winds of TS Debby will not be too harsh on my white petunias, so I can continue to use them as subjects - practice, practice, practice!   Haven't painted brass in quite some time, so patience was called upon to see me through the greenish color of brass.  Thank goodness for highlights that make that brass shine!
